Job Summary:

Completing the customer’s purchase of the ideal choice of a sleep system and accessories, which began with our professional Sales team, will be the main focus of this position.  This includes, but is not limited to, such tasks as, delivery, and set up of our products in customer homes, pre and post trip inspections and professional and courteous interactions with all members of the team.

Minimum Qualification Requirements:

Driving personnel:

Must have a good driving history; pass DOT physical, ability to read a map

book, good customer service, lift at least 75# consistently, 2 years recent delivery

experience. The incumbent must be at least 25 years old.

Physical Demands:

Moderate to heavy physical demands, will be required to load and unload trucks, and to lift mattresses and other merchandise.

Work Environment:

The incumbent will spend the vast majority of their time traveling in a vehicle to a customer’s home in all types of weather conditions.  The work environment characteristics described here are representatives of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job.  Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.

While performing the duties of this job, the associate frequently works near moving mechanical parts.  The associate occasionally works in high, precarious places and in outside weather conditions. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.

This position sells SA products and services to customers.

This position is one of the key “faces” of the organization.

DESCRIPTION

80% Selling mattresses and accessories to customers, both on the phone and in person (in the store)

15%  Forwarding Citi financial notes, cash balancing, order entry, thank you cards, call-outs, open order reports, return customer calls, etc. Responsible for maintaining and assisting in the Inventory of their store.

5% Vacuuming, merchandising products, cleaning washrooms, organize supply room, etc.

KNOWLEDGE / EXPERIENCE: This position requires a high school diploma.  No experience in sales or a similar field is required, but previous sales experience is an asset.

PROBLEM SOLVING: Problems are primarily in solving customer request (the sale) or customer inquires and or complaints. Resolution may require creativity, initiative and discretion (special sales, unique deals) within existing sales guidelines.  New problems are usually reviewed with supervisor prior to taking action.  Receives direction from direct supervisor if needed.

INTERPERSONAL RELATIONSHIPS: This position is in constant contact with external and internal customers and must use tact, diplomacy and respect at all times.  The incumbent provides advice, works to resolve problems using persuasion and reason to reach agreement as required.  Negotiation with customers is also an important skill.

IMPACT ON PROFITABILITY: The degree of financial impact on the company is limited as it relates to one customer at a time.  However, the negotiation process has an impact on our profitability andthe sheer volume of transactions that a sales associate handles elevates the degree of impact to moderate.

RESPONSIBILITY FOR LEADERSHIP AND VENDOR/CUSTOMER RELATIONSHIP MANAGEMENT: This position does not exercise any supervisory responsibilities.  The focus of this position is on sales. The incumbent is required to manage the customer relationship in a professional, tactful and respectful manner at all times.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

Light to moderate physical demands.  Required to move beds and other merchandise as well as various miscellaneous tasks in the store.

ENVIRONMENT:

Works in a clean comfortable store environment.  Occasionally may be required to deal with a verbally abusive customer.

MENTAL EFFORT:

Position requires brief periods of focus and concentration while dealing with customers.  The position requires interpersonal and communication skills while dealing with customers.  No travel is required, except for the occasional sales meeting that generally takes place in the same geographic area as their assigned store. There is requirement to operation under the pressure of achieving sales targets.

COMPANY POLICIES AND PROCEDURES: The incumbent is required to follow and abide by all Company policies and procedures and ensure that they are up to date on any changes made.  Where there is a lack of clarity or uncertainty the incumbent is responsible to seek clarity from their immediate supervisor.  With respect to Health and Safety the incumbent is required to perform the job in a safe manner following all prescribed Health and Safety policies and guidelines which include all applicable legislation and Company policies.  Where there is any uncertainty the incumbent is expected to seek immediate clarification from their supervisor.
